Homework will begin mid September. More will be shared on Information Night!

Now the Durham Fair has come and gone and are lives are slowly returning to a somewhat normal schedule, homework is starting. Here are a few reminders!
-The whole packet is due Friday. I will not be checking it or looking to see what was done when. I really believe in time management and homework done in this way is great practice. Have soccer on Thursdays? Complete Thursday's homework on Wednesday... your child can decide! - All homework should be review! If your child is having difficulty with a particular skill please please please let me know! This is a sure sign students need to be retaught the skill in a different way and turns into a great teachable moment for me and the kids. -If you are confused with a skill, ask your child to teach you! This is great reinforcement. -Relax and know it will all be okay! :) Homework will be starting the week of September 15th. The process, content and depth will be discussed on Information Night. The details will be posted on this website after we are able to speak in person. If anything, please read to, with or listen to your child read for 20 minutes a night. Interested in switching it up a few nights a week? Visit the "Worthwhile Website" tab on the site for a few websites that will read the story to your child. Most importantly, do not worry! Homework will not exceed 10 minutes a night, plus the 20 minutes of reading. I am more interested in instilling a sense of responsibility with your little one of having to remember, finish, and hand in an assignment.
Please follow the direction from previous weeks and keep up the good work! :)
Hello everyone!
This week you are responsible to post a comment for your reader's response. Please check back and comment or ask a question from a friend's post. Here is another quick reminder of the questions/ topics which can be answered in your responses: 1. What was the best part? Tell us why! 2. What was your favorite character? Provide evidence from the story and reasons. 3. I liked _____ because... 4. I laughed when_______. Why did you find it so funny? Provide examples. 5. It was scary when______. Why did you find it so scary? Provide examples. 5. Provide a retell of the story. Blog away, little ones! Very well done last week, friends! I am proud of the work you did. This week you are responsible for one response and two comments to a classmate. Remember: you are each very capable of typing... I've seen you do it!! :) Be patient and write your post on paper first if that helps. Blog away little ones! As of this week students will no longer be responsible for their yellow reading logs. Instead, each child will use this blog as their forum to respond to their readings.
They will be responsible for the following: 1. Type one response as a comment. The same questions and prompts found in the reading logs may be used. 2. One comment connecting or sharing feelings towards another student's reading response. A hard copy with this information will be sent home tomorrow. Happy New Year! Homework will be starting the week of September 16th. The process, content and depth will be discussed on Information Night. For the next few weeks your little one does not need to respond to their reading as an assignment. Instead, we will be working on handwriting, spelling and describing/explaining using writing prompts. Each week your child will be given the task to complete two prompts. Encourage your child to proof read their work after they are done, and to add more details! If you happen to lose track of the prompts attached to each homework packet, you are able to find an electronic version on the homepage of our website.
