One of the many exciting qualities of The Daily Five is the student's ability to choose how they learn. So far, students can choose to work on comprehension strategies while reading to self, and explore the many types of text through work on writing. Last week, students were introduced to word work. Word work allows students to broaden their vocabularies or practice commonly used words through a variety of activities. Each word work bin includes activities such as: white board writing, stamping words, forming words with pipe cleaners, and rainbow writing. New activities will be introduced and rotated in. The kids are very excited about their new choice and have done a wonderful job at using the materials as tools, not toys! :)
