Here in first grade it is our responsibility to learn how to tell time to the hour and half hour. For the past two weeks we have been working tirelessly at understanding time basics. Check us out as we practice telling time with friends!

Friday was the 100th day of school and we celebrated by working a lot with the number 100. In the morning, we practiced non standard form of measurement by seeing how far 100 feet can take us. We started from places like the cafeteria finally the nurse's office and each got to take a turn walking ten "feet" to make 100. We held up signs, and practiced counting by 1's and 10's. What fun! Then, in the afternoon we played a game called "What Can You Do in 100 Seconds?" . In four different 100 second rotations, students saw how many names they could write, how high they could count, how many tallies they could make and how many jumping jacks they could do. Whew! It was a whirlwind day but I think everyone had a great time! Today was such a fun, fast and sugary day. The day went by so quickly I barely had time to take pictures! Seeing how there are more than 600 photos on my photostream, all of our adventures in room 9, this is a big deal! :) I'd like to thank everyone for remembering their Valentine's as well as a tissue box. Some friends opted to decorate a bag instead of their boxes which worked out perfectly time wise. If you get a chance, look at just a few of the activities we were able to accomplish this week. Hi Everyone! I hope you are all safe and warm in your homes and able to enjoy this enormous amount of snow! If your day was anything like mine yesterday, you were finding alternate routes out of your front door, are sore today, and feeling a bit stir crazy due to the unplowed roads. What is everyone doing to pass the time? Were you able to take any cool pictures
Thank you so much to all of you for making our first field trip such a success! All of the kids had their snacks in paper bags, a nice lunch and were on time. We also had 9 volunteers who freely took a group of kids to explore. I was so impressed by the student's fantastic behavior during the presentations and also during free exploration. They were attentive listeners, polite, and understood the importance of staying with their group. Your little ones should sleep well tonight seeing as they fell asleep on the bus back to school and asked for rest time after snack. I couldn't believe it!! |
