This past Friday, to help wrap up our camping "in" week, we were given the unbelievable opportunity to Skype with a ranger from Yellowstone National Park. Ranger Christeal was not only kind, a fabulous Skyper, but incredibly knowledgeable about park safety, wildlife, and history. To show some appreciation for Ranger Christeal (and Mrs. Gohagon who set this all up!) the little ones wanted to blog about what they learned from the experience.

We had a wonderful field trip yesterday to the Mystic Aquarium. The weather was perfect for just enough time for us to explore and eat lunch outside. Thank you again to all of the chaperones who took time out of their busy lives to take such good care of all of the kids. We couldn't do it without you! Want to see what exciting activities we are doing during each day of our camping week? Check out "Exciting Events" for a daily recap!
Next week, from May 6-10th we will be having a camping themed week. Most activities will be centered around fishing, stars, writing campfire stories, the forest and so on. If possible, please send you children in with some/all of the following items on Monday, May 6th. I will have them sent home on Friday. - A blanket - Small, easy to roll sleeping bag - A small flashlight If anyone has a small, easy to put up tent we could leave up in the classroom all week for a fun place to read, that would also be great! I do not mind putting it up! J On Friday, May 10th we will be having a little “cookout” with hot dogs and s’mores. The students will be able to sit around, eating and sharing their campfire stories they will have written during the week. I have set up a perfect potluck for volunteers to supply food. I will bring in a crockpot to keep the hotdogs warm as well as a toaster over to heat up the s’mores. Meal Coordinator: Zauner Password: camping Thank you for helping make this week a success! :-) |
